Crazy

I found this Ninja Gaiden website that had the old 8-bit ROMs available for download, went and checked the first one out. That shit is fun, but it’s way too hard – one of the few NES games I had that I didn’t beat. It’s just insane.

Man I’m behind schedule on everything. My grandparents spent two weeks here so I made it my primary goal to be either away from the house as much as possible or to be asleep while they’re awake – and for the most part, it paid off. However my plans to have the cabalist in the upper-40s by now were shot to hell, as of this morning I’m barely halfway through 43. There’s probably more than my grandparents to blame for that – I started a necromancer and leveled him to 22, although between the shortcut to 20 that Mythic just put in and the fact that necromancers are very fast levelers that hasn’t taken much time, 20 hours tops.

The new Metallica album is out. Pretty much all that needs to be said is that it’s better than Reload, but in terms of quality their first five albums just kick the shit out of it. They did bring the raw heavy sound they used to have back to the front, and there are several moments in the album where it feels like you’re listening to their older shit – but those moments are few and far between. If they do any more studio albums, I’d rather see them totally revert to the sound they had on Ride the Lightning or Master Of Puppets. Mind-bending solos, long instrumental breaks, and severe ass-kicking. That’s what made them famous and quite honestly, everything they’ve done after Metallica has been sub-par.

As for site updates, I added a couple more funny pictures in and took the cam pic out. Basically the cheap piece of shit I was using quit working.

It’s Been Awhile

Haven’t made any updates to this site because I’ve been too busy actually playing the game. Go figure, eh? 🙂 Well anyways, needless to say I’ve made a lot of in-game progress. I’ve advanced to level 86, mastered Mysticism and Long Sword abilities, and picked up a Defender and some other neat items. Also starting to work on some other abilities. I want to have 2-Handed Sword Grand-Mastered by the time I hit level 200, but that should be a piece of cake. That’s it for now.

Lucky Me

Today was interesting. A couple of hunting trips into Tulor’s Cave pushed me up from level 35 to level 54, very cool stuff. Between trips I took part in some contests and win a wizard hat and a Wrath sword. I gave the wizard hat away (much to the delight of the recipient), and the Wrath is tucked aside until I am actually able to use it (about 150 levels down the road).

Speaking of better things, I got another Nullsword today! I was only going to have a chanter give the broadsword I had a bit of a kick but he said he’d just give me the Nullsword. That’s going to make life easier.. in addition to keeping me from being totally useless in Tulor’s.

Here’s a thought – under level 100? Stay far away from the Snake Pit.

Thoughts On Tonight’s Play

Things went pretty well tonight, except for the fact that I lost that Nullsword in a fight with a Dark Fairy. Back to the Tempered Steel Broadsword I go… and almost right after that happened I started hunting with two guys down in the Thieves’ Hole. Needless to say I wasn’t dealing out much damage, but I won’t complain about jumping up 9 levels in one hour. That saves me from having to spend 10 hours getting enough build points to become a Dagger expert so I can go on that quest the weapons shopkeeper in East Leinster is going to send me on.

Right after that I went back to East Leinster, having completely forgotten to no longer accept group members, and got accosted by this dude named Peon who was apparently looking for a little fun with newbies. I saw the notice saying he joined my group, but I didn’t give it much thought because I was about ready to log off for the night. Next thing I know I’m at the entrance to the Ratling Run in a fight with one of those 24HP Ratlings. The fight was over in one turn, so further damage was avoided. Here is what transpired in the /t conversation after I nimbly avoided his attempt to kill me.

<Deuroth> wtf man
<Peon> what do you mean?
<Deuroth> Peon mumbles ‘Flamir tos ehrikahr!’ under his breath
<Peon> 🙁
<Deuroth> Deuroth is burned for 233HP! Deuroth is hurt badly! Peon is burned for 123HP!
<Deuroth> 🙁 is right
<Peon> I tryed to kill you but faild 🙁
<Deuroth> Yeah, nice try
<Deuroth> Guess IQ always prevails eh 🙂
<Peon> you got lucking 🙂
<Deuroth> Yeah, here’s a tip though
<Deuroth> don’t drag people to the ratling run
<Deuroth> you wouldn’t have finished me in one turn
<Deuroth> and thats all it took to finish the fight 🙂
<Peon> I need to take them to fod
<Peon> but takes a bit to get there

Hahahahaha. Here’s to hoping I get “lucking :)” next time too.
