Penn State, Nebraska, and Texas Tech all exposed me for the know-nothing internet fan that I am. Granted Nebraska still won, but letting Ball State run up 610 yards and 40 points on you is, if you’ll forgive the expression, a cardinal sin.
And speaking of the Texas Tech game, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy landed on national TV with this bit at his press conference following the win over Tech:
First of all, I picked Texas A&M to beat Miami last night. I was dead wrong, horribly horribly wrong. I was so wrong, the limit of my wrongness approaches negative infinity as x approaches from the left- ah crap, this isn’t calculus. 0-1.
South Carolina vs. LSU – The “other” USC jumped into the top 25 after beating Georgia on the road and then continued building momentum after beating South Carolina State pretty good last weekend, but don’t look for that to continue here. Even without WR Early Doucet LSU’s offense isn’t going to have much trouble putting points on the board, and their defense will keep South Carolina’s offense in check just enough to maintain control of the game. This may be a low-scoring affair, but LSU comes out on top.
Penn State vs. Michigan – Michigan has a little bit of a problem here. Chad Henne isn’t likely to play tomorrow, leaving a freshman who completed less than 50% of his passes against Notre Shame last weekend. That sucks for Michigan, since Penn State’s pass defense is 47th in the nation now. But at least they can make Mike Hart shoulder the load, right? Wrong, because Penn State’s rush defense is 1st in the nation. Something’s going to give tomorrow, and while I think Michigan is a little more confident in knowing that they are capable of winning games, I don’t think they are going to be able to do enough to beat Penn State.
Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State – What Troy did to Oklahoma State last weekend is going to happen about 3 times over at the hands of Texas Tech. Write it down, Texas Tech wins by at least a couple touchdowns.
Ball State vs. Nebraska – Nebraska ran several practices in full pads this week after not having done so since fall camp. Bill Callahan’s reasoning: plenty of NFL teams practice in helmets and shells during the week. Upon hearing this, the Omaha World-Herald promptly called up 13 “nationally prominent” college programs to ask about this, and all 13 responded saying they run drills in full pads at least once a week. Hopefully that results in better tackling from Nebraska’s defense. Nebraska will win fairly easily, but it won’t be the laugher that Nevada was.

Figures I’m now doing everything in spurts to get it out of the way and make room on the schedule for the next task… I just got through packing lunches for the rest of the week, now I’m getting all the bloggage out of the way, because I certainly won’t have time for the next few days. This is now what my weekly schedule is looking like:
Monday: Work from 8am to 5pm, spend lunch working on Calculus homework, Japanese class from 6pm until at least 930pm
Tuesday: Work from 9am to 6pm, spend lunch working on Calculus homework, go home and do the Japanese homework that was assigned Monday (2-3 hours worth)
Wednesday: Work from 8am to 5pm, spend lunch working on Calculus homework, Japanese class from 6pm until at least 930pm
Thursday: Work from 9am to 6pm, spend lunch working on Calculus homework, go home and do the Japanese homework that was assigned Wednesday (2-3 hours worth)
Friday: Work from 8am to 5pm, spend lunch working on Calculus homework, hopefully chill and watch some glorious mid-major football game the rest of the evening
Saturday: Calculus class from 9am until 1230pm, fail at getting any homework done because college football runs continuously until midnight
Sunday: Calculus class from 9am until 1230pm, go to parents house and do an hour or two of homework while they are making lunch, go buy food for the week, then go home and do laundry – and more homework
So Monday through Thursday I am booked completely solid, Friday I get a little bit of a break, Saturday I do basically nothing because I’m hardwired to take in as much collegiate violence as possible, and Sunday I just get ready to repeat the process all over again. The days I don’t have class I have work and homework, and the days I don’t have work I have class and homework. I’m glad I quit World Of Warcraft and sold my account, because I wouldn’t have time for that shit anyway. (Incidentally, I noticed my character hasn’t been updated in the Armory since I sold the account so it looks like the Chinese farmers paid me $150 for nothing! Owned.)
Well it seems I went a stellar 1-3 this week on my picks. Colorado lost by 10 and Oklahoma State got absolutely ruined by Troy.

And Nebraska… well, just look at this picture:
I could drive a white Ford Bronco through that hole… and it happened all night long. Nebraska simply got beat like a red-headed stepchild for four quarters, and it sucked.
